FactCitroën planned 1,000 DS3 Racing homologation cars, then found enough demand to raise the run to 2,400 by late 2011.
The first and entry-level model of Citroën's DS premium sub-brand, which was spun off in 2016 into DS Automobiles, a luxury supermini officially launched in January 2010. The production DS3 was introduced in August 2009, two months after the second-generation Citroën C3 with which it shares the PSA PF1 platform, following the DS Inside concept unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on 5 February 2009. Buyers could personalise it by mixing body and roof colours and decals. Top Gear named it 2010 Car of the Year and it was first supermini in the JD Power UK satisfaction survey four years running. The DS3 Racing, a 207 hp road version of Citroën's DS3 R3 rally car with carbon-fibre trim, was introduced at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, and in October 2011 Citroën planned 2,400 of them rather than the 1,000 first announced. The DS3 Cabrio was unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in September 2012, with sales from 2013, and the range had a mild facelift in 2014, adding the BlueHDi diesel, and another in 2016 that dropped every reference to Citroën. It was built at Poissy.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

To adapt the Horizon for America, Chrysler bought nearly 100 Volkswagen Rabbits purely to reverse engineer them.

The Mk3 Focus RS's AWD system could send 100 percent of engine power to the rear wheels alone — built not in Ford's home country, but at the Saarlouis plant in Germany.

In June 2003, a Mégane II became the subject of the first ever live televised crash test with a real human driver at the wheel instead of a dummy — filmed by Top Gear.
