The F70 is the fourth-generation 1 Series, a front-wheel-drive five-door hatchback on the UKL2 platform shared with the F74 2 Series Gran Coupé. It was unveiled on 4 June 2024 and built at Leipzig from July 2024, with sales from October. It is the first BMW to drop the "i" suffix from petrol model names, and the first 1 Series without a manual gearbox. Engines are 1.5-litre three- and 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo petrols and 2.0-litre diesels, several with a 48 V mild-hybrid booster; the M135 is a separate model.
