The Alvis Speed 25 3½-litre, made 1937–40 in the same range as the 4.3-litre, had a 3,571 cc (83 x 110 mm) six-cylinder in-line engine with seven main bearings (106 bhp at 3,800 rpm in the infobox, while the text claims and says proven 110 PS (81 kW) at 3,800 rpm and a top speed of almost 160 km/h (100 mph), so no horsepower is entered), a 25.63 tax-horsepower rating, on a 123 in (3,124 mm) wheelbase, 190 in (4,800 mm) long and 70 in (1,800 mm) wide, kerb weight 4,088 lb (1,854 kg). Like the 4.3-litre it was supplied as a chassis for coachbuilders' bodies (Charlesworth, Vanden Plas, Offord and others) with a dual exhaust system announced at the October 1938 Motor Show said to quieten the engine and improve power; it is the only car to have won the Ladies Choice VSCC Oxford Concours prize two years in a row.
