This S80's V8 wasn't really a Volvo engine — Volvo co-designed it with Yamaha, and Yamaha built every one of them in Japan.

No manual gearbox on the market would fit the first S80's sideways-mounted six-cylinder engine, so Volvo built one from scratch just to offer a stick shift: the M65.
