This S60 is the first Volvo ever built in the United States — assembled at the company's plant in Ridgeville, South Carolina, not Sweden or China.

The long-wheelbase S60L version of this generation made history nobody expected from a Swedish brand: built in Chengdu, it was the first Chinese-made consumer car ever sold in the United States.

A small trunk-lid spoiler, standard only on the fast S60 R, boosted rear downforce by 20 percent over an ordinary S60 — a subtle piece of plastic doing real aerodynamic work.
