Akio Toyoda delayed this Yaris by a year in 2015 because its platform had come out larger, heavier and pricier than targeted.
Partway through its run, every US and Canadian XP130 Yaris stopped coming from Japan: from May 2013, Toyota built them in France instead.
The XP90-generation Yaris never really retired in Europe — from 2011 to 2013, Daihatsu kept building and selling the same five-door hatchback as the Charade, right alongside the all-new Yaris.
The hatchback and sedan versions of this Yaris looked like siblings but barely shared any metal — the only exterior panels in common between them were the front doors.
