Nine years into this Every generation's life, Suzuki quietly swapped out its old 5-speed automated manual for a proper CVT.

Every earlier Every was a van first, with a passenger version added on — the fifth-generation DA64 flipped that completely, designing the passenger wagon first and deriving the commercial van from it.

Did you know Suzuki sold an electric kei van back in 1999? The fourth-generation Every offered a factory EV model that August, two decades before EVs went mainstream.

Suzuki waited almost to the very end of this generation's run to add a retro-styled trim — the Every C didn't show up until late 1997, a year before the whole generation was replaced.

This generation's design outlived Suzuki's own production of it by three decades: Daewoo kept building a badge-engineered clone, the Damas, in Korea all the way until 2021.

The Suzuki Every didn't start out as its own model — it was simply the van half of the Carry range, split off into a separate nameplate in December 1982.
