The Ensign De Luxe was the last car of its kind: when the Triumph 2000 replaced it in 1963, the 60-year-old Standard marque vanished from Britain for good.

The Ensign was supposed to be the stripped-down, budget Vanguard. Instead it became the first Vanguard-based car to get a four-speed gearbox.
