After two decades of CVTs, this Murano generation is the first Nissan ever to pair its engine with a proper nine-speed automatic.

Nissan never built this Murano in right-hand drive — which meant Japan's own home market couldn't buy Nissan's own crossover, along with Australia and New Zealand.

This Murano generation spawned the CrossCabriolet, which Nissan marketed as the world's first all-wheel-drive crossover convertible.

The Murano's name comes from the Italian island of Murano, famous for its glassmaking, chosen to evoke the vehicle's curved glass-like styling.
