Taking Suzuki-built vans like this one meant Mitsubishi effectively quit making petrol kei commercials, keeping only the electric Minicab MiEV.

The DS16T truck survives today only because Suzuki chose to let its truck and van lines diverge after 2014.

Its electric MiEV version outlived the i-MiEV whose drivetrain it borrowed, and Japan Post ordered 1,200 of them in 2019.

Mitsubishi offered it in 66 variations, and the base TU truck rode on 10-inch wheels with drum brakes at both ends.

In the US it was sold for off-road use only as the Mighty Mits, with or without doors; at home the 2WD turned in a 3.7 m radius.

China built this Minicab twice over, as the Shenwei SYW 1010 and as the Liuzhou Wuling LZ 110, the latter with Mitsubishi's 800 cc export engine.

When its two-stroke went water-cooled in 1972, the exhaust-heat heater gave way to a hot-water one, and a hang-down cooler joined the options.

When the truck was replaced in 1971, the surviving van kept its old body but got a fake grille and headlight surround.
