For the first time in the LS's history, there was no V8 on the menu at all — this generation went twin-turbo V6 only, by design.

One LS 600h L was cut into a one-off, bubble-roofed landaulet to carry Monaco's royal couple at their 2011 wedding — then retired to a museum.

Lexus chased the LS 430’s slippery shape using wind tunnels built for testing Japan’s Shinkansen bullet trains.

This LS generation's Japanese-market Celsior twin got the first production laser adaptive cruise control on any Toyota, back in August 1997 — though it could only slow the car by easing off the gas, never by braking.

Toyota threw an absurd amount of manpower at the first LS400 — 1,400 engineers and 2,300 technicians built roughly 450 prototype cars just to get it right.
