Nobody expected a tall, boxy little estate car to corner like a sports car, but the Imp-based Husky's uprated suspension let it take bends fast with barely any body roll.

When the Minx saloon got front disc brakes in 1963, its estate sibling the Husky didn't — Hillman left the load-hauler on four-wheel drums.

The Husky's sister Minx shifted gears from a column lever like most cars of 1954, but Hillman gave the little wagon its own floor-mounted shifter instead.
