Fiat handed this Uno's design to Brazil, not Turin: the 'Novo Uno' (Type 327) was engineered in Brazil and only co-designed with Fiat's Italian studio, not the other way around.

Brazil's Uno Mille hid its spare tyre inside the engine bay, borrowing the trick from the old Fiat 147, purely to free up extra boot space for luggage.

Fiat's cheap-and-cheerful Uno had a genuine giant-killer hiding in the range — the Turbo i.e. hit 205 km/h, making it one of the fastest hot hatches of the whole 1980s.
