This 2011 Palio was the nameplate's first clean-sheet redesign since 1996, fifteen years of facelifts on the same bones before Fiat finally started over.

Under the hood of the sporty Palio 1.8R wasn't a Fiat engine at all — it ran a 1.8-litre General Motors unit, tuned for 115 hp on ethanol.

This Palio got facelifted again and again — new front, rear and sides each time — but underneath, it rode on the same 1996 chassis for the entire 24-year run.
