BMW's own roadster and Toyota's revived Supra are closer cousins than most buyers realize — the G29 Z4 shares its entire platform with the Supra and both were built in the same Austrian factory.

This Z4 has a secret twin wearing a Toyota badge: BMW and Toyota co-developed the platform, and the G29 is built on the very same Austrian line as the Supra.

The E89 Z4 was the first Z-series car with a folding hardtop — which meant BMW no longer needed separate roadster and coupe body styles at all.

The E85/E86 Z4's divisive, flame-surfaced styling came from Anders Warming — a Danish designer working inside BMW's otherwise very German design studio.
