The Wiesmann GT MF4, a closed two-seater grand tourer built 2003-2009 (the marque's more powerful, long-distance-touring model, before later MF4-S/MF4-CS updates from 2009-2013), used a naturally-aspirated 4.8-litre BMW N62 V8 making 270 kW (367 PS, 362 hp) at 6,300 rpm and 361 lb-ft at 3,400 rpm, through a 6-speed sports automatic. Rear-wheel drive; length 4.23 m (167 in), width 1.85 m (73 in), height 1.19 m (47 in), weight 1,390 kg (3,064 lb); top speed 291 km/h (181 mph), 0-100 km/h in 4.6s.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
