FactVenturi's Atlantique 300 Biturbo matched the flagship 400 GT's 0-100 km/h sprint of 4.7 seconds — despite giving away a big chunk of horsepower.
The Atlantique 300, unveiled at the Paris Motor Show after Hubert O'Neill bought Venturi in 1994 on a rushed six-month redesign, used a 3.0 PRV V6 shared with other Peugeot/Citroën models, 210 PS (207 hp) naturally aspirated or 281 PS (277 hp) turbocharged (essentially the Alpine A610's engine, per the page, uncited). The twin-turbo version of 1998 used the newer L7X V6 (a Renault variant of the ESL engine) at 310 PS (306 hp) at 6,200 rpm and 291 lb-ft at 3,800 rpm, 275 km/h (171 mph) and 0-100 km/h in 4.7 seconds — a serious rival to the Lotus Esprit V8; 13 were built in 1999-2000, the last Atlantiques considered French before the firm moved to Monaco. Two 300 GTR track-only cars were built in 1999. Total Venturi sales over its lifetime were fewer than 700; Top Gear's Jeremy Clarkson called the Atlantique 'like having your own personal jet fighter'. Venturi again faced bankruptcy in 2000, ending the Atlantique; new owner Gildo Pallanca Pastor later resumed Venturi production focused on electric cars such as the Fétish. Mid-engine, rear-wheel drive, 5-speed manual; wheelbase 2,500 mm (98.4 in), length 4,242 mm (167.0 in), width 1,840 mm (72.4 in), height 1,180 mm (46.5 in).

We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
