The Mercury division of Ford marketed a version of the EXP as the Mercury LN7, with differences limited to badging, trim and a few unique body parts. As with the 1983–1986 Mercury Capri, the LN7 had a rear hatch with a convex-curved "bubbleback" glass backlite, black-tinted taillights and a grille with ten slats instead of the EXP's two; its coefficient of drag is 0.36. Engine and transmission developments tracked the changes to the EXP (1.6 L CVH rated at 70 hp, the 80 hp High Output from March 1982 and the 88 hp electronic multi-port fuel-injected version for the EXP GT and LN7): 94.2 in wheelbase, 170.3 in long, 65.9 in wide, 50.5 in high, 2,047 lb. In 1983, in addition to the changes made to the EXP, the woodgrain on the LN7's dash was replaced with black plastic and the instrument graphics were revised. Ford expected to build and sell 200,000 EXPs and 70,000 LN7s in the 1982 model year, with approximately half that number making production (35,147 LN7s in 1982 and 4,528 in 1983); it sold far under sales projections and was discontinued after the 1983 model year after approximately 40,000 were sold, a two-seat compact sports coupe being relatively out of place in the Lincoln-Mercury line.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The Celica XX, Japan's name for the A60 Supra, introduced the world's first in-car navigation computer.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
