At the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show the 2012 version of the Exige S was announced, featuring a supercharged 3.5 litre V6 from the Evora S rated at 345 hp; a roadster followed in 2013. To accommodate the V6 the new model is approximately 25 cm longer and 5 cm wider than the inline-four Exige, and its drag coefficient is 0.433. The range grew to include the track-focused V6 Cup and Cup R, the 81-car LF1 Limited Edition celebrating Lotus's Formula One heritage, the Sport 350 that replaced the Exige S in December 2015 (51 kg lighter, with the gearshift mechanism left exposed through an open-gate design), the Sport 380 and Cup 380 of 2016, and the most powerful Exige, the Cup 430 unveiled on 9 November 2017 using the Evora GT430 powertrain. The page gives conflicting power figures for the Cup 430 (430 PS in the text, 430 hp in its specification block), so no power figure is given for that trim.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

Series 3 was a different animal: Lotus swapped the Exige's four-cylinder for a supercharged V6, making it the biggest-engined car in the Elise/Exige family.

Lotus's front splitter, hardtop and rear wing turned the Series 2 Exige into a real downforce machine — almost 45 kg of it at 100 mph, versus just 5.9 kg on the Elise it was built from.

Only 604 Series 1 Exiges were ever built, and Lotus then left the nameplate dormant for three full years before the Series 2 arrived in 2004.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
