FactThe 400 convertible marked the first Dodge drop-top since the 1971 Challenger, built off the Aries economy-car platform.
The Dodge 400 is a mid-size car sold by Dodge for the 1982 and 1983 model years, the Dodge counterpart of the Chrysler LeBaron, bridging the gap between the Dodge Aries and the larger Dodge 600. Marketed as a personal luxury vehicle, it was sold as a two-door coupe and convertible and a four-door sedan; alongside its Chrysler counterpart it marked the return of American-brand convertibles to mass production (the first Dodge convertibles since the 1971 Challenger). It shared the front-wheel-drive Chrysler K platform, and its 100.3 in wheelbase, with the Aries and was known as a "Super K" car, developed as a premium-content variant and assembled at Saint Louis Assembly in Fenton, Missouri. In one of its first major uses of the technology, computer-aided design was used to design and tune its suspension components and new body panels, and the firewall was completely redesigned to upgrade soundproofing over the Aries/Reliant. It launched solely as a two-door coupe, with the convertible (completed by licensed bodybuilder Cars and Concepts) and four-door sedan added about halfway through 1982, in 400 and upgraded 400 LS trims; the model line was fitted with an 84 hp 2.2 L inline-4 with a 92 hp 2.6 L inline-4 as an option (the only engine for convertibles, offered only with the automatic). For 1983 the LS was dropped, a 5-speed manual replaced the 4-speed and both engines were retuned to 94 hp (2.2 L) and 93 hp (2.6 L), with a Roadability option package replacing the LS and sport-appearance options. Production was 31,449 in 1982 and 25,952 in 1983 (57,401 in total); for 1984 the sedan was discontinued and the coupe and convertible continued as part of the Dodge 600 line.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
