The Buick Wildcat is a full-size car produced by Buick from 1963 to 1970, taking its name from a series of 1950s Buick concept cars and replacing the Invicta in the "junior" B-body Buick range as the higher-performance full-size Buick between the LeSabre and the larger C-body Electra; it was replaced by the Centurion for 1971. From 1963 the Wildcat was its own series, adding a convertible and four-door hardtop sedan to the original two-door hardtop coupe (a pillared four-door sedan was added in 1964, with standard and custom trims), on a 123 in wheelbase (the Electra 126 in), 215.7 in long, 3,871–3,961 lb. The 325 hp 401 cubic-inch Wildcat V8 was the standard engine through 1966, and from 1964 to 1966 a larger 425 cubic-inch Wildcat V8 was also available at 340 hp with a factory four-barrel or 360 hp with two four-barrels ("Super Wildcat", with finned cast aluminum valve covers); engine names referred to torque output ("Wildcat 445" for the 401's 445 lb-ft, "Wildcat 465" for the 425's 465 lb-ft), and a three-speed column manual became standard from 1964 (four-speed manual 1963–65 only, or the Super Turbine 400). Production was 35,725 in 1963 and 84,245 in 1964.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

This one-year-only Gran Sport package was genuinely rare: Buick built just 1,244 Wildcat GSs for 1966, and only 22 were the dual-quad "Super Wildcat."

Buick's 1966 Wildcat GS package was a one-year-only option, and of the 1,244 built, only 22 got the rare dual-carb 'Super Wildcat' treatment.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
