FactVehbi Koç greenlit this as Turkey's rally prestige project, and its road engine is the same 1,598 cc unit as the Ford Escort Mexico.
The Anadol STC-16, Turkey's first sports car and the country's second wholly Turkish-designed car (after the 1961 Devrim), was designed by Eralp Noyan and built 1973-1975 after Otosan general manager Erdoğan Gönül convinced Koç Holding founder Vehbi Koç to build a prestige model for international rallying; it shared its 1,598 cc crossflow engine with the 1970 Ford Escort Mexico rally-homologation special. The road-going engine made 68 PS (50 kW) at 5,200 rpm and 115.7 Nm (85 lb-ft) at 2,600 rpm, for a 160 km/h top speed and 0-100 km/h in 14.8s; a modified rally version made 142 PS (104 kW) on a lightweight FRP chassis. Wheelbase 228 cm, length/width/height 398/164/128 cm, weight 920 kg — the page gives these only in metric with no imperial pairing (unlike the A1's own table), so wheelbase/length/width/height/curb weight are left unset in specs here rather than converted.

Owning one
We don’t estimate running costs for a car like this. What it costs depends on its condition, its specialist and how it is driven, and an average would mislead.

The Celica XX, Japan's name for the A60 Supra, introduced the world's first in-car navigation computer.

The CTR Anniversary looks like a 911 but Ruf built its carbon monocoque from scratch, no Porsche body underneath.

The 228's coupe styling hides a sedan underneath: Maserati stretched it onto the longer four-door Biturbo chassis to make room for its biggest V6, which is literally where the name comes from — 2-door, 2.8 litre.

Switching to fuel injection let this V8 finally shed its trademark bonnet bulge — and only 405 of these flat-hooded Series 5 cars were built before the whole model retired in 1989.

Japanese buyers got a secret weapon in their MX-6 — the JDM-only KL-ZE V6 made about 40 more horsepower than the engine sold in the exact same car in North America.

An American tuner, Callaway Cars, built twin-turbo conversions of the GTV6 that boosted its V6 by fifty percent to 230 hp — turning Alfa's grand tourer into something far quicker than the factory ever intended.
