The very last 356s built, ten cabriolets assembled in March 1966, went straight to the Dutch highway police — who liked Porsches on patrol so much they stuck with 911s for decades after.

Hiding inside the 356 B run is a one-off body: a Karmann-built hardtop notchback made for just two years, 1961 and 1962 — and the second year's version wasn't even a modified cabriolet, but its own unique design.

The 356 A was the first Porsche you could simply order with the four-cam 'Carrera' engine — hardware that had lived exclusively in Spyder race cars until then.

The stripped-down 356 Speedster only exists because Porsche’s American importer, Max Hoffman, personally talked the factory into building a cheaper, bare-bones open-top version for US buyers.
