This Ford Sigma-engined 1.6 Litre was the last of its line — when it ended in 2018, the 4/4 closed out a 73-year production run, one of the longest of any car model in history.

Morgan has a very British, old-school image — but from 2006 the 4/4 1800 ran a Ford Duratec engine that was actually of Mazda origin under the skin.

Hand-built Morgan still shopped the parts bin in 1968 -- the 4/4 1600's door handles were borrowed straight from a Land Rover.

Morgan didn't bother building its own engine for the Series V 4/4 — it just bolted in a 65bhp Ford Cortina unit and gearbox under the hand-built body.

Morgan built this version of the 4/4 for under eighteen months — just 114 left the factory before the next Series arrived.

Blink and you'd miss it: Morgan built just 58 Series III 4/4s before replacing it with the Series IV thirteen months later.

On the Series II 4/4, a heater was optional — and so, remarkably, were turn signals. Morgan treated indicators as an upgrade, not a given.

The open two-seater alone made up 53% of Series I output: 663 cars by 1939, plus 249 more once war production resumed in 1946.
