All 2 Lotus Elite Generations
Each generation deals in its rarity tier’s alloy with its engine disc, lead specs, and first spotter record. Click into any generation for full trims and market figures.

When Lotus refreshed the Elite into the Type 83 in 1980, it didn’t bother designing new brake lights — it just borrowed them straight off the Rover SD1.

The original Elite's engine wasn't designed for a car at all — it started life as a lightweight, wheel-trolleyed firefighting water pump engine before Coventry Climax adapted it for the road.
