This Rio never went on sale in Kia's home country. After the previous generation struggled there, Kia made the fourth-generation Rio export-only.
This Rio's smallest diesel briefly held a genuine title: lowest CO2 and highest fuel economy of any non-hybrid, non-electric car on sale — nearly 88 mpg on the EU cycle.
The second Rio dropped the station wagon body and replaced it with a hatchback instead.
