This XJR's aluminium body wasn't just lighter — Jaguar riveted and bonded it together using an aerospace technique, an industry first for a volume production car.

The X308 XJR was the last steel-bodied XJ Jaguar ever built — and the first to pair that old-school structure with a modern V8, a combination one retrospective called the most luxurious ride ever produced.

Nearly every X300 XJR came with an automatic — the manual gearbox was technically standard, but only 268 buyers ever ordered one.
