Ford's German RS dealers built the left-hand-drive-only Werksturbo for just over a year. Numbered transmission tunnels suggest as few as 155 were ever made.

Britain loved the Capri Mk III a little too much: it was officially classified "high risk" of theft by the Home Office, becoming one of the most-stolen cars in the country through the 1980s and early '90s.

The Capri Mk II was the first Ford anywhere to get a hatchback - arriving just as the body style was catching on across Europe.

Ford built the entire RS3100 run — just 250 cars — in two months flat, purely to homologate its racing version for Group 2's over-three-litre class in 1974.

Ford wanted to call this car the Colt, but Mitsubishi already owned the name, so it became the Capri instead.
