The D5 S8 quietly became Audi's flagship sedan full stop — the only thing that outranked it, the A8 L W12, was dropped after 2018.
The 605-hp S8 Plus wasn't built on Audi's regular A8 assembly line — it was hand-assembled by Audi Sport instead, and its VIN starts with its own distinct 'WUA' prefix to prove it.
