How to shoot a spot that makes a great card
I've taken a lot of bad spot photos. Like, a lot. Here's what actually made mine better.
1. Get the angle
Go to a front corner, so you can see the face and the side at the same time. Then crouch down to headlight height: standing up makes every car look like a toy. Get the whole car in with a little space around it, and don't chop off the nose or the tail.
2. Let the light help
Keep the sun behind you, not behind the car. The hour before sunset makes everything look expensive. At night, hold still and tap the car to focus, and skip the flash.
3. Not sure what it is?
Burbles shows its best guesses, each with a score: pick the right one. No idea at all? Save it anyway and tap Not sure? Ask other members. Someone always knows. The badge and the tail lights give most cars away, so get those in if you can.
4. Be cool about it
Don't stress about plates: they're blurred before anyone else sees your photo. Look, don't touch: no leaning on it, no opening doors. And if the owner's around, say hi. In my experience most people love that you noticed their car.
What's the best thing you spotted this week? Tell me below.
