AMG built its own SUV: 1,153 hp, three motors, and a recorded V8
Mercedes-AMG revealed the electric AMG GT SUV on the 17th, and it's a first: in 59 years, AMG had never built an SUV entirely in-house. Until now.
- The top GT 63 makes up to 1,153 hp from three axial-flux motors, with 0-60 in an estimated 2.4 seconds. That's the peak. It holds 711 hp continuously.
- Below it: a GT 55 with 805 hp and a GT 53 with 536.
- Charging tops out at 710 kW, 10 to 80% in about 12 minutes. Mercedes calls those figures preliminary.
- In AMGFORCE Sport+ it plays a V8 soundtrack. Mercedes says it's recorded from a real AMG V8, not synthesized, and it even simulates the gear changes.
It lands at US dealers in summer 2027 as a 2028 model.
A recorded V8 in an electric SUV: cool or cringe?
